Mayday for Marriage in Albany, NY

Mamaditto Speaks:  My remarks in the news clip below were, of course, edited. The reporter asked me if the rally should be taken as a threat by legislators. I told him "threat" is the wrong word. We were there to implore them to consider how SSM would affect the next generation. EVERYBODY has a mother and a father. SSM will nullify a child's right to a mother and a father. So, rather than being about the adults... (segue into video clip)

Nothing New Under the Sun

This entry is from something I did in 2008. What with the news from CA about AH-nold and Newt entering the 2012 presidential race, it bears repeating.
The title  above comes from Holy Writ.  King Solomon used it many times  in Ecclesiastes to emphasize that human events are cyclical because of man's imperfect nature and limitations.  (read "original sin.")

This article discusses adultery among politicians and tries to make the case based on evolutionary biology. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03/12/AR2008031204031.html

Mamaditto prefers the Biblical route, since adultery is a moral problem, not an organic one. Just a cursory look at a few pertinent Scriptures explains precisely the evil that lurks in the hearts of men:

Pr 6:16-19- There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers. [ Sounds like the perfect profile of a politician Sunshine]
Pr 16:18- Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.
Pr 29:3- A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
Mt 5:28- But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. ~ The Lord Jesus Christ ~
Heb 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

Save the Children

Question : What do cohabitation, divorce, same-sex "marriage" and single parenthood have in common?
Answer: They are all lifestyle arrangements which focus on the gratification of adults. [The exception would be divorce in cases involving abuse, addiction, adultery and/or desertion.]

The interest of children is best served by laws encouraging and supporting marriage for their mothers and fathers rather than by supporting those who would intentionally deprive them of a mother or a father.

Marriage has never been focused on the status of adults or severed from the reality that sexual relations between a man and a woman have the potential to generate new life.

Marriage unites a man and a woman with each other and any children that may result from their union. Holding this position does not require people to have an opinion one way or the other about homosexuality. It is only the consequence of recognizing the reality that marriage unites a man and a woman with each other and any children that result from their union.

Women remain the only citizens possessed of a womb and capable of gestating and giving birth to future citizens. Thus, the union between a man and a woman is procreative in nature - independently of the actual fruitfulness of
any particular union.

This understanding of marriage is not a bare appeal to tradition or custom, but is a recognition that the source of all human life is the union of a man and a woman, and that every person without exception has a mother and a father. Children need fathers not simply to come into existence, but also during their childhood and beyond.
