Same-sex marriage debate 'rigged'

So much stuff is circulating about behind-the-scenes shenanigans in Albany leading up to the passage of same-sex "marriage" that the law ought to be called the Trash Polite Society and Disrespect Normal People Act.

The process was rigged from the get-go: Secret meetings, lack of public hearings, limited floor debate, undue pressure by the governor, plus the deep pockets of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Gill Action Fund, according to the Wall Street Journal. , (

One news source reported that senators turned off their cell phones on June 24 in order to stymie lobbyists (

On July 24, licenses for same-sex couples were issued during off-hours and the mandatory 24-hour waiting period was waived.

Why was this bum-rush necessary if New Yorkers allegedly favor same-sex marriage as the agitators claim?

So, rather than lame attempts at assuaging us with pabulum about voting his conscience, state Sen. Steve Saland should be explaining why we ought not consider him a double-faced oligarch rather than a responsible statesman for his participation in this malfeasance.
