You don't know me, but I have something to tell you. Maybe you should sit down first. Ready? You're not a homosexual.
How do I know this? Well, it just so happens that as a middle-aged member of the human race I know something about human behavior. And having participated in human reproduction, I can assuredly tell you that your sexuality is a behavior - not a personal identity. Isn't that good news? I think so. And so do a lot of people who once were where you are now. They thought that because they were attracted to their own gender they needed to reduce their personhood to a niche status in order to be "whole."
Feelings can be misleading. They can be a symptom that something isn't kosher. Feeling relieved about "coming out" results from identifying the problem - much like receiving a firm diagnosis for a mysterious disease. But the "cure" - that is, embracing the "gay" label - could be worse than the malady itself.
I hope you will reconsider this decision and spend some time talking to the good people at PFOX or one of the other many ex-gay organizations.
What have you got to lose, except maybe your life?
Sincerely,
mamaditto
PS. No need to thank me. I'm always glad to help.
